My Quilting Adventures

Happy Tuesday Everyone! For those of you who have followed me for a while or who follow me on Instagram, you may know that about 3 years ago I took up quilting. It was something I was always fascinated with and I now  am truly addicted to this most therapeutic past-time. I am thinking of starting to talk more about it and posting my projects on this blog. I don’t do many….. I wish I had more time. If this is something you would like to see, just email me or leave a comment.

The sole reason I actually started in the first place was because I stumbed across a fabric and pattern designer’s blog (Camille Roskelly) and she had just filmed a class for Craftsy. It seemed to be the perfect way for me to learn and so  I decided to go for it and haven’t looked back.

If you want to give qulting a try, I highly recommend Craftsy. I have taken three classes that have taught me so, so much. I refer to them often as I create quilts. What is more, you receive multiple quilt patterns, detailed instructions, amazingly detailed instructional videos and there is a question board….and they are there for you watch whenever you wish….they don’t expire.
Craftsy is celebrating their 100th class with a huge sale. If quilting doesn’t interest you, then there are knitting, crocheting, cooking and cardmaking classes!

I have personally taken these three courses and highly, highly recommend them. They were so very well done and I literally learned everything I know about quilting from them!

This was the first class that I took and it was amazing. Camille Roskelley teaches you the basics and as a mother of 3 boys, she has loads of tips and tricks to help you get a lot accomplished in short little pockets of time. I learnt how to cut my fabric precisely and how to chain piece! Love this one! I have used two of the patterns from this course and I can’t wait to try my hand at the legendary Swoon Quilt.

Another course from Camille and it is full of helpful techniques to create fun and fast quilt projects. Love how she breaks everything down, explains and then demonstrates. Another really helpful class.

This course is taught by Joanna Figueroa. She is awesome. No fuss, practical and funny. I am in the middle of finishing off one of the class projects. I love how it is turning out and I would have never thought I could attemp this kind of project before taking this class.

Here’s what is on my wish-list:

I hope that if you have ever wondered or dreamed about creating your own quilt that this post has encourage you to give it a try :)
Have a great rest of the day.
Hugs Jeanette xxo
